What is The Right Age to Get Started?

The Canadian Association of Orthodontists recommends that children have their first orthodontic consultation by age 7.

At this stage, most kids have a mix of baby and adult teeth, and that gives us a valuable opportunity to assess how their smile, bite, and jaw growth are progressing. Even if everything looks great, an early visit gives you peace of mind and helps us create a baseline for monitoring future development.

We’re not looking to rush into treatment. In fact, most kids we see at this age don’t need braces yet. But if there’s something that needs attention, like crowding, a crossbite, or early signs of jaw misalignment, we can often address it with minimal intervention now rather than more complex treatment later.

And if treatment isn’t needed? We’ll simply check in every 6–12 months at no cost to you. These short visits allow us to monitor growth and make sure everything is staying on track.

Early consultations are about setting the stage for a lifetime of healthy, confident smiles.
